HOW DOES ULTRASOUND WORK?
THE POWER OF ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGY
In the first device of its kind, The Otto Clinic harnesses the safe, painless and non-invasive technology of high frequency ultrasound waves for use in the field of cosmetic aesthetics.
The benefits of pulsed high frequency ultrasound waves have long been identified by the medical world for the successful eradication of kidney stones and cataracts. The Otto Clinic utilises a similar innovative technique, directing the high frequency ultrasound waves precisely into the level of subcutaneous fatty cellular tissue, resulting in the targeted elimination of excess fat cells in key areas of the body.
Fat cells (adipocytes) are composed upon average of fifty percent water and fifty percent fat, which due to their cell structure, compact upon each other to form an uneven layer, preventing the blood circulatory system and the lymphatic system from operating efficiently in these areas. The ultrasound wave penetrates the fat cells (adipocytes) breaking down the fat cell membrane, whilst all other surrounding connective tissues; blood, lymph vessels, muscles and peripheral nerves remain intact and unaffected.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE TREATMENT?
Controlled by a microprocessor, the ultrasound device takes an exact measurement of the localised area prior to treatment e.g. Tummy, bottom or thighs etc., to ensure optimum results for each individual. During the treatment, the medical professional lightly places a hand held sensor on the fatty, adipose areas receiving treatment. This sensor emits a focused, pulsed ultrasound wave that painlessly penetrates to 12.5 to 17.5mm under the skin, directly into the fat cells (adipocytes).
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FAT?
Once the fat cells are absorbed into the lymphatic and blood circulatory system, they are either evacuated by the normal bodily channels of excretion or converted into energy by the liver as a normal body function when digesting fat. The introduction of these triglycerides into the digestive system promotes a bio-stimulation of the basal metabolism, simultaneously acting, in some cases, as an appetite suppressant during the time that the body is metabolising or evacuating these fatty substances.
Due to the nature of the Ultrasound Body Contouring treatment, the body will continue to eliminate fat residues and water over the following three week period. After the initial one hour session an average loss of 2cms can be anticipated in the treatment area, although this figure varies, since naturally it is directly proportional to the amount of excess fat to be eliminated.
Where required, a further session may be undertaken four weeks after the initial treatment. One to four sessions are recommended, depending on the number of areas to be treated and the size of the individual undergoing treatment.
It is important to note that whilst Ultrasound technology will permanently eliminate existing fat cells from the body, the body will naturally increase its fat reserves if the body is subsequently subjected to an excessively rich diet over a certain period of time.
