What is Ultrashape?
Ultrashape is the first proven non-invasive solution for body contouring which uses ultrasound technology to permanently remove undesired fatty areas on the body. It is a painless alternative to liposuction and surgery/tummy tucks both of which are high risk procedures requiring a certain amount of down time recovery. Designed for average weight to overweight men and women, this treatment is extremely flexible so even small, difficult areas of fatty tissue can be targeted allowing the client and The Otto Clinic consultant to concentrate on localised problem areas if necessary e.g. saddle bags, love handles, ‘muffin tops’, moobs etc.
Is it safe?
The Ultrasound Body Contouring treatment is a ‘walk-in walk-out’ procedure and since it is a non-surgical treatment, it does not have any of the risks associated with surgery. Clients are free to resume normal daily activities once treatment is concluded.
How does it Work?
The Ultrashape technique uses pulsed high frequency ultrasound waves to target subcutaneous fatty tissue which results in the elimination of fat cells in the designated treatment area. Controlled by computer, the ultrasound device takes an exact measurement of the localised area prior to treatment e.g. tummy, bottom or thighs etc. to ensure optimum results for each individual. During treatment, the consultant lightly places a hand held sensor on the designated area – this sensor emits a focused, pulsed ultrasound wave that painlessly penetrates between 12.5 and 17.5mm under the skin, directly into the fat cells (adipocytes).
What happens to the fat cells?
The ultrasound wave penetrates the fat cells breaking down the fat cell membrane, whilst all other surrounding connective tissues such as blood, lymph vessels, muscles and peripheral nerves remain intact and unaffected. (Fat cells are composed of about 50% water and 50% fat, which due to their cell structure, compact upon each other to form an uneven layer, preventing the blood circulatory system and the lymphatic system from operating efficiently in these areas). Once the fat cell membranes have been penetrated, the contents of the fat cells (known as triglycerides) are absorbed into the lymphatic and blood circulatory systems whereupon they are either evacuated by the normal bodily channels of excretion or converted into energy by the liver as a normal body function when digesting fat.
Where can it be used?
The Ultrashape Body Contouring treatment can be used on the abdomen, thighs, flanks, buttocks, the region beneath the buttocks and on male breasts.
What does the treatment feel like?
Patients report feeling a warm sensation on their skin which is relatively pleasant. Patients have stated that there is no post-treatment pain, discomfort or any other side effects. The texture of the skin treated remains smooth and intact and there is no scarring.
What after care is needed?
No after care is required as this is not a surgical procedure, there is no recovery down time and patients can resume normal daily activities immediately.
How long will the effects last?
Typically there is no maintenance regime required although it is advisable to drink plenty of water, follow a balanced diet and try to avoid/keep to a minimum foods such as refined carbohydrates and white sugar. Your Otto Clinic consultant will provide full details on dietary changes required to aid the process.
How often should I have the treatment done?
Your Otto Clinic Consultant will advise you of the treatment frequency required to maintain your new shape.
Who is not suitable?
Not suitable for obesity.
